40GB PS3 Rumor Is Back
Posted: Oct 4, 2007
Engadget.com states that "according to an "exclusive" over at Pocket-lint.
According to their "multiple sources," Sony will announce the 40GB
"core" PS3 tomorrow at a price of £299 -- the same model we expect to
hit the US for $399." If that doesn't convince you, Joystiq.com has also heard some insider information. Apparently, Joystiq received intel that a UPC database website has a new UPC Listing for a "Sony Playstation 3 40GB." And for how much? $399. This is sure to boost PS3 sales for the holiday season as the low price tag makes the system much more Christmas-gift friendly. The downside to this 40GB model is that there will be less USB slots, no memory card reader and no backward compatibility, but none of this is confirmed as of yet. More on this tomorrow when or if the console is announced.Author: Joe Hayfield
